Por uns tempos não prevemos entradas novas, estaremos em limpezas do back catalogue a tentar arrumar todos estes anos de teses que correm no nosso sítio em algo que possa fazer sentido à posteridade: se navegarem por páginas antigas notarão arranjos novos a seu tempo. Antes de irmos, e desconhecendo que humores nos trarão de volta ou quando, ao "até já" o nosso proverbial "told ya", porque OS POSITIVOS: chatos mesmo quando não o queremos ser.
Ao caso, o TCJ continua a ler-nos e repetir temas, devolvemos favor. Depois de bitcharmos de formatos perecíveis vs livros pomposos, preços descartáveis e fazê-lo pelos leitores, pelo menos pelos miúdos, e por mais tempo do que vcs nos querem aturar, eis uma peça de hoje que resume bonitinho a nossa saudade pela BD de outros tempos.
I wish a kid could walk into a comic shop and find a cheap version of Cryptoid that looked like a 1960s D.C. 80-Page Giant, complete with yellowed newsprint pages. I want that kid at the comic shop to be confused, surprised, delighted by a version of Cryptoid that looks more like a John Jacobs self-published comic book than a concession to the book trade.

Por onde começar? Do valor que lhe damos?
The format of Cryptoid seems out of sync with Haven’s approach; it’s a small, upscale hardcover priced at $19.99. And at the risk of sounding like a whiny philistine, Cryptoid feels overpriced at twenty bucks.

Da discrepância com a embalagem?
Sometimes the publishing format of a comic book or graphic novel — its dimensions, its paper stock, the (lack of) quality of its printing — does a disservice to the material inside. Long-time fans can probably come up with their own examples of misguided printings and reprintings: garish computer coloring, the “Theaksonizing” of early Simon-Kirby stories, massive omnibi where art vanishes into the gutter between pages, Tintin albums shrunk down to pocket size.

Da preferência pelos panfletos?
Fantagraphics publishes few comic books these days — they’ve found more success in bookstores — but if the company can print pamphlets, then why not work which seems rooted in the excesses and absurdities of old comics? It’s oddly dissonant to read goofy homages in a format more appropriate for the publication of a poetry chapbook.

Ou do efémero da coisa?
The book is 72 interior pages long, and Haven uses large panels and very few words in most of his pieces. Pretty but insubstantial, and a very quick read. It took me about ten minutes to read all of Cryptoid.

Nós tb não. É o que fazes desse que importa.
Mas papávamos todos os panfletos de todas as bds que conseguíssemos a um euro ou menos. Senhores editores, podemos voltar à publicação baratucha descomprometida? Nem todos os livros têm que oozar a luxo, 300 páginas malhadas a capa dura: às vezes a rapidinha é igualmente satisfatória, até surpreendente se as expectativas são baixas e deixa-nos assanhados por mais.
