Porque gostamos de ler as folhas do chá: notícias cruzadas que apenas entre nós dão azo a futurologia crónica sobre o futuro da BD. OS POSITIVOS, no long-long-muito-long tail dos comics.
Tudo nos States, mas a) temos os Américas como petri dish de cultura popular / cultura de massas e se queres discordar b) quem pensas que massificou entre as massas os comics...?
Ainda que no último report da Publishers Weekly 14 mar 2018 não deixasse muito à imaginação:

...gostamos de seguir do estado da indústria do papel mais próximos da origem, e as notícias que tocam à publicação de jornais e revistas não são boas. A viver a mais completa revolução de modelos de negócio e mal se conseguindo pagar, são apanhados numa guerra de tarifas com o Canadá que ameaça subir ainda mais os custos do papel, e um aumento de portes de correio que é especialmente onerosa sobre os "'flats' like magazines and catalogues":
The price shocks are overlapping. While printed on different stock, the magazine industry can ill afford another unplanned expense increase. And some smaller papers are delivered by mail so the postal increase will hit them directly.
What the Postal Service is asking could add 40 percent to their cost of mailing over the next five years. If that sticks, [companies] will be forced "to pursue magazine closures, circulation cuts, issue frequency reductions and conversion to digital formats."
Worse case or even next-to-worse case, they may lead to staffing and content cutbacks at strong publications and spell the end for smaller and weaker ones.

Um jornal e 17 mil toneladas de papel por ano para imprimir notícias que já estão desactualizadas quando saem da prensa e vão para o lixo depois de uma só leitura? Parece sustentável.
Enquanto a ideia de fazer negócio em papel começa a soar algo contraproducente, segunda notícia a merecer um levantar de pestana.
Recordam-se como o mundo foi virado ao acesso quando a Apple lançou o primeiro iPhone? Antes deste ninguém se dava ao trabalho de aceder à web no telemóvel, a imprensa vivia bem com a internet no seu lugar, e o Facebook não era mais do que uma curiosidade. Depois, o caos. A Apple tem um longo historial de revolucionar hábitos, e colocar o mundo no nosso bolso o passo exponencialmente mais dramático do seu longo percurso de disrupções.

Consideremos a comoção mais recente. Depois de algumas tentativas falhadas de entrar no mercado da educação, voltam à carga com um novo iPad, mais barato. Fora o mumbo-jumbo:

As consequências para a BD se conseguirem agarrar os miúdos com digital stylus em aparelhos baratos — particularmente num mundo onde a produção e distribuição do papel é cada vez menos uma opção — serão nada menos que outra revolução de hábitos (*)O planeta, esse 'tá fodido either way: apenas um embargo à China pode devolver-nos a eras pré-industriais..
